After working with mentors like Lil’ Wayne, Jay-Z and Jamie Foxx, it looks like Drake is now seeking guidance from Diddy.
The two stars were spotted in Toronto the other night club-hopping around the city before ending up at a recording studio above Tattoo Rock Parlour on Queen Street West.
According to the National Post, the pair were reportedly working on music together.
It appears Drake is making the most out of his reputation as the hottest new player in the game.

So it’s no secret that I’m foaming at the mouth in anticipation of Jay-Z’s The Blueprint III album, for several reasons.
1. I’m an ubergeek fan. OBviously.
2. Kanye West produced almost 3/4 of the album. When Hova and ‘Ye work together, MAGIC HAPPENS. As we know, Kanye owes much of his success to his work producing 2001’s The Blueprint.
3. The artwork. Yeah, kind of a lame reason but this is a whole package deal, ya know?
4. THE TRACKLISTING. Look at this line-up!!

I guess the problem with having a hip-hop-stravaganza in Canada is the fa-reaking BORDER. Why you gotta give hip-hop so much hassle, Monsieur Customs? Thankfully, no scheduled artists were prevented from performing at Sunday’s Rock The Bells concert, but the anticipation of such problems allegedly drained our line-up of some choice artists. Combined with scheduling conflicts and movie shoots, we were deprived of The Roots, Raekwon, House of Pain, Busta Rhymes, Mickey Factz, GZA, Cypress Hill… and at the last minute, Common was replaced by Mos Def. The loss of Common made a grown woman weep. Or at least think of weeping. (I totally shed a single tear in a dramatic moment).
More, and photos after the jump.

Wanna transform yourself into the hottest new rapper of the year? Then keep your eyes peeled for one of three Blackberries filled with Drake lyrics. The Toronto rapper, who’s not ashamed to recite lyrics off his handheld device when needed, admitted to MuchMusic that he’s lost numerous Blackberries filled with lyrical gems.

MuchMusic recently followed rapper Drake as he headed to his first sold-out hometown show at Sound Academy in Toronto. From meeting up with his entourage and arriving at the venue, to chilling in the green room and stepping on stage, we were there to capture every moment. It’s a must-watch cause you’ll get a good sense of Drake’s humble personality and charming nature. Is it just us, or was he particularly charming towards our lovely VJ, Sarah Taylor? Who can blame him, really.

Drake. Drizzy. Young Lion. Aubrey. Call him what you like, but don’t call him an up-and-comer - the dude is already a star. How else do you explain a sold-out show at Sound Academy for an unsigned artist? How else do you explain 2300 people spending $40 A POP, clamoring to see an artist who has yet to drop an album? Up-and-coming, please. Drake is already here.
To be purposely corny, you could feel electricity in the air before the show kicked off. Drake calls Toronto home and this was his hometown crowd, chanting his name 45 minutes before he appeared. The tiny backstage was sardined with supporters including Kardinal Offishall, everyone anxious to see what could one day be spoken of as a legendary event.

OMG. This is what I’ve been waiting months for: Drake in concert, in Toronto, tomorrow night. *scream*
I know you’ve heard the hype - this guy is a superstar in the making, working with the biggest names in hip-hop and he hasn’t even signed a record deal yet. “Best I Ever Had” is a radio and club hit and he’s selling out shows like he was going on a retirement tour. His story is a real testament to how the internet and mixtapes are changing the hip-hop game in full force. And yes, he used to play Jimmy on Degrassi.
If you love hip-hip, I’m pretty sure you already have the So Far Gone mixtape… but if for some reason you don’t, do yourself a favour and download it now (sidebar, right). Every song is a killer, and my favourites are constantly changing. And for the rest of you going to the show tomorrow night, here’s a teaser - Drake performing “November 18th” in Houston. This is incredible - he doesn’t have to do a thing cause the crowd does it for him.

We have nothing but love for a Canadian rapper by the name of Drake, who’s rhyming side-by-side with Lil Wayne on stages all over the world. He was a tad tardy for our interview (watch it here!), but showed up at Toronto clothing boutique Nomad ready to talk about whether he’s an artist or a product (his answer may surprise you), and what his conversations with Wayne are all about.
We’ve been burning his new mixtape So Far Gone, along with the 300,000 other people who’ve also downloaded it for free. Here’s a peek at what Drake revealed to MuchMusic.. Continue Reading »
