Katy Perry to become Smurfette

Katy Perry has signed on to become the voice of Smurfette in the new live action/animated Smurfs movie.
Variety reports that Russell Brand’s future missus will voice the only female Smurf. Neil Patrick Harris has also been added to the cast, however, NPH will be a live action character and not cartoon.
The movie’s director will be Raja Gosnell, who previously directed the two Scooby-Doo films and (gulp) Beverly Hills Chihuahua.
Smurfs is set to hit theatres in 2011.

It seems that discovering new talent using technology and the internet is the coolest trend since celebrities and their accessorized babies. You never know who, out of the thousands and thousands of videos you watch, will be the next to pop up on your television or the radio.
I had a similar experience with this new artist back in early 2009, when I was browsing YouTube looking for something new, something fresh. As I’m sure many were with artists like Esmee Denters and Justin Bieber, I was with Alyssa Bernal: thoroughly impressed.

Katy Perry Swoons Over Russell Brand

Katy Perry rivaled her fiancé Russell Brand’s comedic skills with a hilarious interview recently.
Joking about Brand’s reputation as a playa, Katy said, “Can you imagine the kind of responsibility I have with his reputation? Jeez. I’m bedridden most of the week.”
She joked about her stunning engagement ring saying, “I’m glad he didn’t go for the ‘every-other-b—ch in-Beverly-Hills-is-wearing-it-as-well ring.’” She also revealed the inscription: “The one I’ve been waiting for.” Aw schmaltz.

Break out the chocolates and heart-shaped candy! It’s Valentine’s Day and all your favourite stars are in the mood for love. From glam-pop power couple Katy Perry and Russell Brand to “Step Up” sweethearts Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, it looks like this is one holiday celeb couples are taking seriously.
Perry and Brand are known for their over-the-top declarations of love so we just knew the duo would go all out for their first Valentine’s Day together. According to a report in the “Daily Star,” Katy Perry will make her fiance a very happy man today by surprising him with a pimped-out ride: a customized lilac Bentley Brooklands. If this is true, she’s a keeper, Russell!

Ke$ha wants celebs to remake ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’

Current ‘it’ girl Ke$ha has famous fans like Adam Lambert and Rihanna, but now Ke$ha wants to work with some of her famous friends. At a pre-Grammy party this past weekend, Ke$ha revealed that she wants to remake Cyndi Lauper’s Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, along with Katy Perry, Paris Hilton and Lady Gaga.

Timbaland’s tour details

Timbaland has announced some details about his Shock Value II tour, which starts Friday.
According to Perez Hilton, the musical maestro’s show will be a “visual and sonic extravaganza” with surprise live guests. While many of them haven’t been announced, Timbaland has let on that Katy Perry, Brandy and Drake will be appear on a screen via “moving digital imagery.”
You know Timbaland, it’s OK to just call it a projector.
