Last week/weekend one of the biggest, if not the biggest, music festivals took place in the UK. That being Glastonbury. Over the years thousands of bands have played a stage at Glasonbury. Some of the big names that have played include Jay-Z, Kings Of Leon, The Verve, The Killers, The Who, Oasis, Pulp, Coldplay and tones more. This year was no exception with names like Bruce Springsteen, Lady Gaga, Blur, The Ting Tings, Black Eyed Peas, Neil Young, Bloc Party, Glasvegas and many more.

Has anyone ever made you a mix CD where you find a new band or artist that changes your life so completely you run out and get everything that artist has ever produced, friend their myspace, and check back every few weeks just to see if they’ve updated (even though they may be “in the studio” and bands rarely update during that process)? Denmark’s Mew did that to me.
Yeah, okay, so I’m a huge geek.

* Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Carribean star Orlando Bloom may or may not be engaged. They’re not saying. Aww, look at you, you’re jealous. That’s adorable.
* Straight outta’ The City, now Whitney Port is playing baseball. And blogging about it. Kinda lame: not even real baseball players do that.
* John Mayer is going on record saying, pretty much, that he is going to date movie stars since you won’t. He’s probably laughing at you right now.
* Yoko’s going out for a jaunt across the pond - and check out the help she’s taking with her. That’s gonna be one wacky show…
* And speaking of the 60’s: Listen up Haligonians! Macca (aka Paul McCartney, ex Beatle) is coming to visit you!
* Guess what London/Ottawa/Hamilton/Montreal, you lucky people, Kings of Leon have added tour dates just for you!
* Allison Mossheart of The Deadweather and The Kills is denying reports that she and Jack White got into a brawl, like we told ya yesterday. I really hope this doesn’t turn into “he said, she said”. Could get awkward.

* If you’ve been out of the loop, then I’m doing you a big favour here: WE’VE GOT THE NEW GREEN DAY VIDEO. HERE. TONIGHT. EXCLUSIVELY. Don’t worry, that gem of wisdom is free, you don’t owe me a thing.
* So nevermind that Levi Johnston (father of would-be-VP Sarah Palin’s grandbaby) won’t talk to CNN about hooking up with Bristol Palin. My question is: why aren’t they asking him about the custody battle? Or even better, WHY are they interviewing him at all?
* In another stellar interview, Lindsay spoke to Ellen DeGeneres about breaking up with Samantha Ronson. I think I’d feel more sympathetic if she wasn’t totally taking advantage of rebound-makeouts.
* Who knew Red Hot Chilli Peppers‘ front man Anthony Kiedis has an adorable side?
* There has already been some trouble with this year’s Toronto V-Fest location. Are those storm clouds on the horizon? I feel cold…
* I’d like to be able to explain what the hoops Smashing Pumpkin’s Billy Corgan is doing here… but there’s just no way I can make this coherent.
* Finally, Lily Allen drunk-dials Kings of Leon. I only wish I had an audio clip to go with this.

Last night Kings Of Leon ripped the roof off the ACC with an amazing show. The sold out ACC is a huge jump for the boys from Tennessee who have previously played the Kool Haus. With the success of their latest album ‘Only By The Night’ it was no surprise to me that they would sell out the ACC, it was only a matter of time.
The minute that the Followill brothers and cousin stepped foot on stage, everyone in the ACC were on their feet cheering. This was probably the loudest show I’ve ever been to at the ACC (which also includes Leaf & Raptor games).
Throughout the whole show the guys played songs from all four of their albums including the hit California Waiting from their first album. They opened the show with Crawl from their latest album which was a good idea in my eyes because it allowed the fans who recently got into Kings to get comfortable with the show before they played their older tracks. Following Crawl they played a handful of their older tracks before ripping into the smash hit Sex On Fire. The minute that first cord was played the place erupted into madness. This was probably the loudest part of the show besides the time in between their set and the encore. I’m sure everyone in the ACC was singing every word to Sex On Fire which was great because it is an awesome song to have as an anthem/sing-a-long song.
Other songs that drew sing-a-longs and a huge amount of noise were California Waiting, On Call, Knocked Up and Use Somebody. Besides a great performance they also had a great presence on stage. In true rockstar fashion we saw guitarist Matthew Followill smoked a cigarette while playing and lead singer Caleb Followill had a few drinks on stage.
Opening for Kings Of Leon was a band from New York City called The Walkmen. Their set was pretty good but the standout of their performance was the ever popular track The Rat.
Below is the setlist for Kings Of Leon, if I messed it up or am missing anything please let me know.
Setlist:
Crawl
Taper Jean Girl
My Party
Molly’s Chambers
California Waiting

Slow Night, So Long
Encore:
