For us here at MuchMusic Black History Month is a time for us to recognize artist and songs which raised awareness of the Black struggle over time.

Drake announced as the host of the 2011 Junos

After the success of 2010’s Junos, which brought in the biggest audience in the award show’s history and included performances by Drake, Justin Bieber, Metric, Michael Buble, Billy Talent, and K’Naan, it was difficult to imagine that 2011’s show could top the landmark year. But that was before today’s announcement.

Hip hop superstar Drake has been announced as the host of the 2011 Junos, airing on CTV on Sunday, March 27, live from the Air Canada Centre in Drake’s hometown of Toronto. Drake is joining a long line of hosts who have been hugely successful in their careers both at home in Canada and abroad, including Alanis Morissette, Shania Twain, The Barenaked Ladies, Pamela Anderson, Nelly Furtado and two-time host Russell Peters.

The 2010 WE DAY is another huge success!

Stream of Consciousness: Crazy Legs meets Bouncing Cats

There is something beautiful and fascinating about rediscovering or uncovering a part of you that has been with you the whole time. These are some of the thoughts running through my mind as I spend time attending Manifesto events around Toronto this year. The annual festival of community and culture is back again this year with a jam packed six days of art, music, film, community, change and suggested manifestation in the most magical sense. There are many highlights to this years shows and activities, but as someone who is focused on understanding and exploring the art of storytelling, the screening of Nabil Elderkin’s documentary Bouncing Cats really left a mark over my heart.
