Liz Online Ep. 26: Liz goes Under the Sea with Bruno Mars

December 10th, 2010

It’s two weeks until the holidays and I am throwing you some sweet vlogs as 2010 wraps up. We’re all busy little elves in the MuchMusic workshop so I thought it would be fun to give you a bunch of extra special Liz Online shows. Get ready… they should be fun!

Bruno Mars has been melting the snow on most girls’ hearts lately and warming them up with his wonderful, swooning voice and romantic lyrics. One of my favourite things about artists like Bruno is that he can back up his music with production/writing cred. He’s not just a voice, he’s the full deal. He can write a catchy hook, produce a nice beat and add the cherry topper with a pretty voice on top.

Liz Online Ep. 25: Happy socks make a happy Liz

December 7th, 2010

Brrrrrrrr hello there my shivering Canadian friends,

I love Canada, but my gosh it’s freezing today! Okay, so The Tallest Man on Earth and Frightened Rabbit are two groups that represent solid indie folk music and without bands like this, I truly don’t know what I would do.

Liz Online Ep. 20: Grapes-a-Claus is coming to town

November 19th, 2010

Hello Loves,

The most important man in my life is coming to town this Sunday. That’s right, Santa S. Claus will be rolling in his whip down Yonge St. in Toronto for the Annual Santa Claus Parade this Sunday. I traveled allllllll the way to the North Pole to get the scoop on the biggest and baddest floats this year, but when I got to the crib the elves told me that the real magic was going down right here in Toronto! So I got my thermos of hot chocolate with some extra marshmallows for the road from Mrs. Claus and headed back to the big city.

Liz Online Ep. 17: Hollerado hugs pandas…kinda

November 10th, 2010

HOLLERado my darlings,

Yes, if you haven’t realized yet, I love this band name. The boys in Hollerado fall from the grounds of Manotick and are ultra rad people, if I do say so myself.

Facts: Their new video for Americanarama was shot all in 1 take, with a $4,000 dollar budget and it’s got over 600,000 views on YouTube (doubling from the time I interviewed them). It is definitely buzzworthy and the boys deserve every ounce of attention because their music rocks. But mainly they are super awesome guys that know how to put on an awesome show.

Liz Online Ep. 16: Liz pulls an all-nighter with Down With Webster

November 1st, 2010

Hello my darlings!

I know this one is a bit overdue, but we’ve been crazy with all the other fun vlogs we are throwing your way. I hope you are enjoying them as much as I enjoy filming them.

So for starters, what does Nuit Blanche mean? Literally “White Night, All- Nighter or Sleepless Night” in French. Nuit Blanche in Toronto is a free all-night contemporary art event that took place on Oct 2, 2010 at 6:57pm – sunrise. In other words, an excuse to grab a group of friends, bundle up, roam the streets all night looking at cool art installations and still feel safe. But most importantly, have fun!

Liz Online Ep. 15: Gwar makes Liz’s hair pink

October 29th, 2010

I fell in love with Gwar when I first saw him eating Ethan Embry in Empire Records. Since then, it’s been a bloody romance, which even included my hair being dyed pink by their blood. Seriously. I decided to check out the Zombie Walk last week and sit down with the cutest boy on stage, Gwar’s lead singer. And how else do you get ready for a Zombie Walk than by covering yourself in blood and dirt? I mean, I didn’t want to look weird with non-decaying cheeks!

Check out my spooooky interview with Gwar and have a very haunted Halloween! Oh, and don’t forget to save some candy for your girl, Liz. Even zombies like Rockets and Snickers.

Muahahahahaha, Liz

Liz Online Ep. 14: Lamb, lamb, fashion baby

October 28th, 2010

Kids of 88

Wait a minute… I’m a kid of 88’ so does that mean I can be in their band? Okay, super lame joke but these New Zealand boys are adorable and have a good vibe about them. If you’re into the whole MGMT, Passion Pit, Glassjaw, Electric President vibe, you’ll probably dig them. I don’t enjoy giving artist comparisons because most artists can stand alone as their own entity, but that’s just a general genre comparison. Check out their MySpace.

Liz Online Ep. 13: Amazing youths give Liz goosebumps

October 25th, 2010

I was honoured to get to participate in this year’s amazing We Day celebration in Toronto! Standing in an arena full of thousands of youths that are all there because they want to make the world a better place creates the most amazing energy I’ve ever felt. I literally had goosebumps all day!

Liz Online Ep. 11: Johnny Knoxville has learned to wear a cup for interviews

October 15th, 2010

Hello my darlings!

Hopefully you are stoked for the weekend to be here because… I SURE AM!

Ever since I was a little girl I have loved Jackass. Vulgar? I know. But you see I have this older brother (whose name is Doug) and I wanted to be like him. I tried skateboarding, snowboarding, I listened to his punk rock and most importantly grew a liking to Jackass. Needless to say my mother was not so stoked on her little blonde girly girl daughter watching grown men kicking people in the pants, puking after chugging milk, firing paint balls at each other, etc. Oh, moms.
