Canadian Talent + Half Decade = WIN!

Maffoofoo's Top 5

In case you haven’t already noticed, MuchMusic LOVES Canadian bands. I too love Canadian bands. In fact, I truly believe that Canadian bands trump all American, Scottish (-FF), Aussie, and even El Salvadorian bands. I mean, we seriously have so much talent, whether it is recognized worldwide or not.

Metric @ Massey Hall

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Metric wasn’t shy in expressing their excitement about playing on that historic stage, gushing that it had long been a dream. However, the problem with Massey Hall - a seated venue - is that you can’t really DANCE. And isn’t that the point of a Metric show, to have a sweaty dance party? (Yes.)

polaris-knaan-1.jpg

Being an awards show and all, last night’s Polaris Music Prize gala saw Kanye West’s recent MTV VMAs antics as a hot topic.

K’naan was actually there at the VMAs talking to Kanye right before he ran up on stage and stole Taylor Swift’s moment.

“He literally came up to where I was sitting to talk to me for a second, just before he went up,” K’naan told us. “So the people around me who didn’t know who I was were like, ‘Oh this guy must be somebody because Kanye just walked up to him and talked to him for a while.’ Then he jumped and went to sit where he was and literally did it right then, the thing. Then the people who were with me, it was no longer, ‘Wow’ it was ‘Boo, this guy knows Kanye.’ It was funny and embarrassing.”
