MOD is bout to get extra amazing this week, cause we’re sending someone to Los Angeles to see the premier of Michael Jackson’s “This Is It”, a film cut from hours of MJ footage while he created his sold-out concert series that was to take place this summer in London.

Every day this week on MOD we’ll be revealing key words for you to collect, so by Friday you’ll have 5 words that form a sentence. Also on Friday, we’ll call someone at home; to win, they must answer the phone with the CORRECT PHRASE! Not, “hello! (insert phrase)”.

Never Can Say Goodbye.

A lot has been said about Michael Jackson since he passed away on June 25th, 2009. Reporters, friends, pop culture junkies, music historians, even myself… we’ve all waxed poetic about the man, his music and the legacy he leaves behind.

But of all the countless words that have been said and will continue to be spoken about MJ for the months/years/DECADES to come, this is perhaps the most touching and honest of them all: (watch)

In that one moment, Paris Jackson humanized her father in a way that no one ever has. Raw emotion, straight from the heart, from someone who knew him NOT as a superstar…or an icon…or a tabloid “freak”. For this little girl, he was simply “Daddy” - and the pain on her face and in her voice was simply heartbreaking.

Today we laid to rest the greatest entertainer of a generation, possibly of all time. Michael Jackson stands right alongside Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and The Beatles as a man who changed music, pop culture and the world FOREVER.

For me, Michael Jackson was my musical hero - and the single biggest reason why I ever wanted to study and write about music, or work in music television. My greatest MJ memories are wrapped up in a series of “firsts” - the first album I ever owned (Thriller), the first video I ever saw (Billie Jean), and the first concert I ever went to (The Victory Tour in 1984). His music is quite literally the soundtrack of my life, and all I can do as a fan is be grateful that I was alive to witness and appreciate his greatness.

Remember The Times: The MJ Memorial

Tomorrow the world will pay tribute to Michael Jackson as the official memorial ceremony takes place from the Staples Centre in Los Angeles. MuchMusic and MuchMoreMusic will bring you complete coverage of the event, and you can take part by sending us your comments on Twitter or coming down to Much HQ to share your MJ experiences with us.

12pm-1pm ET: We chat with fans on the street and share our favourite MJ videos and edits.
1pm-3pm ET: Michael Jackson memorial live from Los Angeles, commercial free.
3pm-4pm ET: More chat with fans on the street as well as MJ videos and edits.

If you can’t watch it the first time around, we’ll be re-airing the whole thing on Much and Muchmore at 8pm ET and again on MuchMore at 11pm ET.

So MJ sold a kabillion tickets for his “I can still do this!” tour in London, and here’s the new dopeness: you can vote on his setlist. If you have tickets or not, you can still submit your dream list. Who knows whether or not he’ll USE the top results, but the idea of it happening is fun enough.

Matt Wells: Michael Jackson’s Return To The Stage
