I already love this movie.
Take that High School Musical! Fame forever! This movie is a re-make of the 1980s movie which inspired a TV series, a reality show, and then stage musical. And now we are back to film again! Woohoo! Also! Kherington Payne from season 4 of So You Think You Can Dance is in this! She plays the dancer.
As I love me a good musical (I actually just watched the trailer five times in a row) I am quite excited about this. What about you guys? Are musicals your thang? Love ‘em or hate ‘em?

When I first heard about Fanboys the inner fanboy in me jumped for joy. Unfortunately, the theatrical release of this movie was met with bunch of delays and ever-changing release dates and I kinda forgot about it. Luckily the DVD release was on time.
Fanboys is the story of four nerds and their quest to pilfer an unreleased copy of The Phantom Menace from Skywalker Ranch. Why couldn’t they wait for it to be released in theatres? Well that’s because one of our fanboys is dying of cancer and may not make it for the premiere. So the guys all pack themselves in a van and hilarity ensues right? Not really.
Get ready for some road trip movie clichés such as trying to get girls to flash, getting arrested, and prostitutes. The cameos, Star Wars associated and not, were nice but overall meh. There were a few gags that hardcore Star Wars fans will appreciate but none of it stacks up to all the other Star Wars spoofs out there. The film sure could have taken a cue from Family Guy’s Blue Harvest.
Fanboys definitely had a few chuckles but nothing to push it over the edge in the classic or brilliant category. Rent it if you must but overall this is a pass.

…I guess I’m not the only one who noticed eerie similarities between the new Transformers trailer and Terminator: Salvation.
Best Part: “…and worst of all: eating all of our sand.”

So I saw Terminator: Salvation. And I speak as a true Terminator fan when I say… don’t get your hopes up.
Two ladies beside me pretty much loathed the entire thing. But it should be noted that those gals aren’t into Terminator - one of them had never even seen any of the movies (gahhh?!). I, on the other hand, as well as my other friend, actually enjoyed the first 3/4 of the flick.

Remember that time when people who wanted to promote movies made legitimate trailers where they got Don LaFontaine to do the voice over and there were either explosions or hijinks or both?
Apparently that time is over. Funny or Die put this video up recently, and, well, I know this is supposed to be funny, and there are some good laughs, sure, but the whole thing seems kinda over-done. I mean, we all know, we KNOW, that Betty White can’t possibly be that mean in real life. You know? And I’m sure after his stint as Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds wouldn’t stand for that kinda smack talk. It’s like they’re doing what everyone would expect them to do if they were changing everyone’s personalities around.
So I think I’m gonna have to vote “DIE” here. What do you think? Is this totally hilarious and I’m completely wrong? Or does it really just… fizzle out… around the halfway mark?

Liquid Generation had a few minutes on their hands and crammed 100 of the best movie lines into 200 seconds. Check it:
Surrrrrre, you can fill the comments with “what about THIS one?!” (my contribution: what about “I’m Spartacus!!”?), but just sit back and enjoy the 3 minutes and 41 seconds, I say. But seriously, what other movie lines would have made your edit?

Ok jerks, who saw Wolverine this past weekend and contributed to the $87 million haul? *Raises hand* I went on Friday and was surprised to find I was watching a comedy. Maybe it was unintentional, but me and Shin Cup laughed our way through the whole movie.
Yeah, I thought it was pretty awful.
The good news is .. at least it was entertaining. And it was nowhere near as horrible as X-Men 3. And for you girl types who like your men hunky, there’s a fair amount of naked Hugh Jackman and brooding Taylor Kitsch. For you girl types who like your men attractive, you may enjoy the Ryan Reynolds and Daniel Henney. But this is not about the dreamboats, this is about the action.
Wolverine was not short on fights and explosions, but I think I’m a little sick of wire work and overused one-liners (”let’s do this.”). I would recommend bringing a flask of over-sugared slushy and play the Action Cliche drinking game — go nuts when you see overused plot points such as: man walking away from explosion, fight on roof, men fighting and then falling through glass, bad child actor, group fight with men circling protagonists. You get it.
Who else saw Wolverine? Thoughts?

This is the part where I tell you that I’ve never seen a Star Wars movie, and you gape in my general direction, speechless. And then I look at you and say, “yeah, yeah. Get over it, drama queen.” And then you go, “but - STAR WARS is a piece of pop cultures history! It’s imperative to your general contribution to movie viewing karma!” And then I shrug it off and say, “ok, let’s make a deal. I’ll watch this mash-up instead, and we’ll call it even.”

I don’t know if you’ve been paying close attention to the previews for the new Matthew McConaughey movie Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, but just in case you were wondering - why, yes! That IS former VJ Amanda Walsh playing a bridesmaid/supporting role.
After leaving MuchMusic in 2004, Amanda moved to LA and has taken roles in several TV and movie projects. I chatted with her on the phone about her role in a flick that includes big cheese actors like Jennifer Garner, Matty McC and Michael Douglas!
