Jay–Z says he’s open to the idea of collaborating with Noel Gallagher.
The rapper and the former Oasis member got into a war of words last year after Noel publicly questioned Jay-Z headlining the Glastonbury festival.

* October 20th! New Flight of the Conchords album! Prepare to get Freaky. Uh, because the album is called I Told You I Was Freaky. That’s the only reason, I swear!
* Conor Oberst wants to retire his Bright Eyes alter ego! I’d shed a single tear, but then I’d have to grow out a fringe to go with it.
* Obituaries: the Taco Bell Chihuahua, Gidget, has died at the age of 15. There are no snarky words for this… also I don’t know Spanish…
* Surprising no one, Liam Gallagher is insulting people (this time his fans!) again… and Noel Gallagher insults Liam right back. It always amazes me that these two can even tour together…
* More Festival News comes in the form of the newly created 1000 Islands Music Festival in Gananoque. Exciting as I’m sure that sounds, Simple Plan will be headlining! So get on yer swim suit!

Oasis are not impressed by your attitude.
This weekend I bought myself some tickets to V-Fest Ontario, up at Burl’s Creek Farm in Oro-Medonte (it’s just north of Barrie). So now, I’m trying to learn-up about what I should expect/avoid at a festival, since I’ve never been to one before (oh Glastonbury and Reading/Leeds Festival(s), why are you so far away?). And I’ve found some things I wouldn’t have expected. Based on recent news, here are three reasons this festival could be a scary, scary place.
#1: Fashion? The New York Times went out and did a whole fashion spread of artists all dressed up at Coachella. I guess that means no one is worried about mud, like in the U.K. I guess that’s the fans, anyway. These photos are seriously awesome (and done in black and white), you should see! Just don’t expect me to dress that way!

* Virgin Festival organizers have announced which five Canadian provinces (up from last year’s two) will play host to V-Fest installments this year. Which is pretty vague. Perhaps they fail to realize how BIG our provinces are…
* More Festival News! Line ups for Music Waste’s festival in Vancouver, and a summary of the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest line up in, uh, Ottawa, the Oxegen Festival line up in Ireland, the T in the Park festival line up in Scotland, and the Heineken Open’er Festival line up in Poland, of all places. I <3 the Summer Concert Season SO MUCH.
* 17 years later... SNL alum Jimmy Fallon finally gets his college diploma. That’s some victory lap, alright.
* The Future is getting kinda scary. Think about this: a “Guitar Hero” concert tour, or what about a World of Warcraft movie? Talk about taking a good idea too far.
* Oh Oasis, always getting into trouble: this time with a sex turkey (?!)
* Good news: the Snoopy host of Dogg After Dark has been cleared of assault charges for allegedly beating a man who climbed onstage at one of his 2005 concerts. Confusing news: what does anyone need a brass knuckle microphone for?

Ah, the wonders of technology. Don’t let the headline fool you, Oasis isn’t exploring new musical territory, unlike some people I won’t mention. But technology IS exploring Oasis. Er.
Okay, let me start over. You’ve heard of this Microsoft Songsmith program? Basically you take the vocals from any given song, feed them into Songsmith, and it produces what it thinks the backing music should be.
Here are some of the more interesting results:
The Police’s song “Roxanne” as a Latin dance number
Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train”, polka version.
Weezer’s “Buddy Holly” as a touching ballad.
Rick Astley’s Rick Roll “Never Gonna Give You Up” a la heavy metal (or as heavy as songsmith seems to get).
I don’t think I’m gonna be able to listen to Sting seriously ever again. Now he’s going to have a mariachi band following him around in my head everywhere I go.
THIS is why we don’t let robots rule the world. Or do we? What do you think? Travesty or new trend?
