The White Stripes attended the premiere of their documentary “The White Stripes Under Great White Northern Lights” at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday. The film documents their 2007 tour in Canada where they performed at some unusual venues.

“We made a lot of new friends and played in a lot of places we never thought we would go,” Jack White told Sarah Taylor on the film premiere’s red carpet.

Jack White and filmmaker Emmett Malloy did some bonding while shooting in the Great White North. According to Malloy, White is a great bowler.

Bono says he’s been having a great time in Toronto since U2 just wrapped up a 2-night gig in the city.

“I’m having the best time,” he said. “The film festival’s going off. There’s parties in the street. Then you get out to the Rogers Centre and there’s the biggest party of them all. Having a great time. Opened the roof, sun is shining, couldn’t be better. Great to be Irish here this week.”

U2 have one more Canadian date on their tour, Vancouver on October 28th.

Matt Damon is The Informant

Matt Damon stars as a bumbling double-agent in The Informant, which hits theatres today. Sarah Taylor recently staked out a spot on the TIFF red carpet for an interview with the actor.

Finally, Matt Damon showed up to discuss the acceptability of lying with Sarah. It’s something he does a lot in the film.

“It’s definitely OK to lie,” the actor said. “And we should lie, there’s some things you have to lie about.”

“Like what, what do you lie about?” Sarah asked.

“That dress looks great on you,” Matt replied. “I mean, it’s something that every husband, you say that to your wife, no, you should always mean it, I do always mean it, always.”

Of course, Sarah was telling the truth when she complemented Matt on his appearance. The actor packed on the pounds for The Informant, and then seemed to lose them just as quickly.

“A lot of running, boxing that kind of stuff , and then no more cheeseburgers,” he said.

More red carpets were rolled out last night in Toronto for the International Film Festival.

Jennifer Garner hit the premiere of the comedy The Invention of Lying with her co-stars Ricky Gervais and Rob Lowe.

In a green strapless gown, Garner admitted that lying is just a part of life. “You have to. For the love of Pete you have to. It’s absolutely part of every day I mean “how are you? I’m fine.” That’s a lie so much of the time.”

Garner added, “So is it worth it being brutally honest? Is it worth the pain? No, no empathy is much better. Kindness wins!”

HBIC Drew Barrymore dropped in for a nice visit on Saturday to chat about her brand new movie (and directorial debut) Whip It. She brought along a team of roller derby bad asses and charmed her way to all of our hearts. She talked about the cast’s month of derby training (can you imagine? A month learning how to destroy on roller skates with Drew, Ellen Page, Zoe Bell, Kristin Wiig and Juliette Lewis?!?! OMG) and tackling her first project as a director - particularly her love of the soundtrack. Man, I bet this girl is just the realest. How can I get in on that derby training camp?!
