Best Tweeters of 2011!

Greetings! Sarah here, although you probably know me better as “@MuchMusic.”

My favourite part about running the MuchMusic Twitter account is watching our shows along with you (shout outs to the #PLLCrew and the #Degrassians!) and getting to hook people up with concert tickets and other amazing swag. But from an industry perspective, it’s amazing to see the different ways that celebrities use Twitter. For some, it’s nothing more than an impersonal promotional tool run by their managers. For others, it’s a fascinating peek behind the curtain that usually divides the private and public life of those in the spotlight.

‘Tis the season for year-end lists and 2011 was truly the year of Twitter. So in no particular order, here is a look at the year’s best tweeters. Or is it tweeps? Twitterers? Tweople? Tweeties? Have we decided what this word is yet? Anyways. Moving on. It should be noted that this is not a list of who simply has the most followers; it’s a list of stars who are using Twitter in awesome ways. Quality over quantity.

Attention Torontonians! Win passes to see an early screening of Super 8!

Easily one of the most highly anticipated films of the year, JJ Abrams and Steven Spielberg’s Super 8 looks like it will be the ET of a new generation. I, for one, am ready to phone home. Whether you’re into sci-fi or just love amazing movies, Super 8 is a must-see.

Set in a small town in Ohio in 1979, Super 8 follows a group of teens who inadvertently film a train crash on their Super 8 camera, only to find that the events leading up to the train crash may be supernatural. Wanna find out how it all ends? We’ve got 25 pairs of tickets for the early screening of Super 8 on Saturday, June 4 in Toronto at 10 am.
