One of Britain’s most famous couples are splitting up - after almost 5 years of marriage, Peter Andre and Katie Price (Jordan) will separate. Know how I know? Twitter.

Only weeks ago I was still getting my toxic gossip updates from sites like ONTD and EW.com - and I still check them on the daily. But since Twitter added their trending topics panel to the sidebar, I’m learning all my junk from there! For example, I’ll be reading updates from my “friends” (Ash, Dems, Diddy - you know, the whole crew) and notice that the trending topics list includes “Peter Andre” and “Katie Price”. I’ll be like, “what’s going on here?!” and click to see hundreds of updates telling me that I’m so behind the times on learning that Peter and Katie are separating. Just like last week when “Cassie” was a hot topic, because her nudies leaked all over teh interslice. I’ve also learned about the recent California wild fires through Twitter, and something about Apple Shampoo that Mark Hoppus started (what?!).

Anyway, it’s interesting how Twitter has changed my flow of information in a matter of a week. How do you use Trending Topics? Do you pay attention to them?
