50 Cent Offers Kanye a Knuckle Sandwich

See, it was a strange dichotomy having 50 Cent on MuchOnDemand just now; on one hand, he was all cuddly and charming and smiley. On the other hand, he kinda sorta threatened a beat down. On Kanye.

When Sarah asked him what he thought about the ‘Ye VS Taylor situation, 50 said he felt for Swift, and that maybe Kanye should steal one of HIS trophies so he can walk away with a black eye. Haaaaaaaaaa. Remember when these dudes had “beef“? Maybe time to reignite those fires in time for 50’s album to come out in November…

So I’m sitting here perusing the various media outlets and their post-coverage of last night’s VMAs, and no big surprise, Rich at FourFour has the best recap out there (read it here). As always, expect amazing gifs, some of which I’ll use here, to dazzling effect.

Now, on to the things that I’d like to discuss - things that kinda fell by the wayside on account of all the Kanye hoopla.

090309-tickets

There’s something else warm ‘n sassy to get out of watching the MTV VMAs on September 13 besides seeing Jay-Z, Muse, and Taylor Swift hit the stage. Something bountiful and rewarding. Something like a year’s worth of concert tickets to be won from Ticketmaster. Ka-BAM!!!

During the show, watch for trivia to appear on screen, and head to the contest site to answer the questions. Each correct answer earns you a ballot in the draw!

Make your way over to this page (here) to send in your email. We’ll send a confirmation when questions go live. Remember, you have to watch to win!

Beyonce To Perform at the MTV VMAs

082709-beyonce-vma

The MTV VMAs just got hotter. Beyonce will be performing the Eurythmics’ hit “Sweet Dreams” at this year’s show. The singer is now part of a growing line-up of VMA performers that includes her husband Jay-Z, as well as Taylor Swift, Green Day, Muse and P!nk.

Hip-hop newcomer Wale and UCB will form the VMA house band with guest spots from The All-American Rejects, Pitbull, and 3OH!3 throughout the night.

So far, Nelly Furtado, Katy Perry, Ne-Yo, Miranda Cosgrove, Chace Crawford and Leighton Meester have been announced as presenters. Of course, Russell Brand will bring his inimitable British comic stylings back to the stage as VMA host.

The show goes down live Sunday, Sept. 13 at 9pm ET on Much. For more VMA fun, go here!

Jay-Z and Gaga = VMA Performer Elites!

081209-vma-announce

I think Lady Gaga has the best quote ever about being announced as a performer for the MTV VMAs: “I’m simply gutted to be both a performer and nominee at the 2009 VMAs. In fact, I’m so happy, I could die.” You know, I think we as a whole should start saying that more often. Exaggeration is the new irony, y’all!! PS: I wonder if she’ll shoot sparks out of her jubblies?

ALSO: Jay-Z will perform at the VMAs! I’m so happy I could die. I get teary-eyed whenever I think of the grandiose rise of my little Hova - sure, he’s been huge for several years now, but he was never like, U2 big. Now he’s bigger than U2 big. He’s truly joined the ranks of the pop culture elite. In fact, he runs it. Maybe I’m just biased.

Young Hov and Gahgs will join a blockbuster crew of performers that already boasts Green Day, Taylor Swift, Muse and Pink. In case you don’t already know since we’ve been shoving it down your maw for weeks now, the VMAs go down on September 13! For more on the big shindig, check out mtvvma.ca!

MTV VMAS, I Seeee You

Russell Brand will not be denied. And New York City will not be denied. And MTV will not be denied. I don’t really know what I’m talking about here, but what I’m saying is Russell Brand is back again to host the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards… and they’ll storm New York City (”performances staged all over Manhattan”)… and you’ll watch it because MTV says so.

So far, Taylor Swift and Muse (!!!) have been tapped to perform at the shindig, and Russell Brand states that, “This year will be a controversy-free festival of love and discreet orgasms.” Well boy howdy, count me in!

Mark your calendars for September 13, and check mtvvma.ca for updatez.
