Need to know: After her 2008 release Fearless, Taylor Swift is back with her third album entitled Speak Now, which came out on October 25, 2010. Taylor is known for her descriptive Country/Pop crossover songs, this time all written completely on her own. She writes about her experiences with everything from breakups, to makeups, apologies to friend problems…names included. Already having a loyal group of fans, there’s no surprise that Taylor already has 10 songs from the album on the Billboard Hot 100, and has sold over 1,000,000 copies of Speak Now in the first week.
In 100 words or less: There are many similarities between Speak Now and Fearless, although Taylor wrote this one on her own. Fans can expect the same quote-worthy, relatable verses, mixed with acoustic and pop melodies that they know and love. The songs are so relatable, it’s sometimes scary! At one point, I was convinced Taylor followed me around and wrote the songs specifically for me. So sure, the album isn’t anything out of the ordinary for Taylor but hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
Best Tracks: Enchanted, Mine, Speak Now, and The Story of Us
RIYL: Carrie Underwood, Julianne Hough, Kellie Pickler.
Rating: 8.5/10
Buy, Download, Steal, or Don’t Bother: Buy! And buy a copy for your ex-boyfriend, too.
