Taylor Swift is this month’s Glamour Magazine cover girl and opens up to the mag about everything from her famous friends, her new boyfriend and yes, even John Mayer. The country singer, whose new album Red drops later this month on the 22nd, had some surprising things to say about the topics she covers so well in her songs.

When asked about the importance of her female friends, Swift gushed “They are so important in my life right now. I’m the kind of girl who needs to tell her friends everything. I’ve developed this really close-knit group of girls. Two of my close friends are bandmates. My other close friends are Ashley, Claire, Diana, Emma (Stone), and Selena (Gomez).” No more Abigail with red hair?

Surprisingly, when asked about her thoughts on the interview John Mayer gave to Rolling Stone where he called her song Dear John ‘humiliating’, Swift explained that she has avoided her ex’s press. “I know it wasn’t good, so I don’t want to know. I put a high priority on staying happy, and I know what I can’t handle,” said Swift.

“It’s not that I’m this egomaniac and I don’t want to hear anything negative, because I do keep myself in check. But I’ve never developed that thick a skin. So I just kind of live a life, and I let all the gossip live somewhere else. If you go too far down the rabbit hole of what people think about you, it can change everything about who you are.”

While Swift refused to confirm during the interview her rumoured relationship with Connor Kennedy, she did admit that Kennedy’s grandmother Ethel Kennedy is “fantastic. I love her.”

Taylor Swift’s issue of Glamour Magazine hits shelves on October 9th.
