Taylor Swift talks guilty pleasures and media pressure on GMA

Taylor Swift appeared on Good Morning America today to celebrate the release of her fourth studio album, Red. Surrounded by a studio of screaming fans, GMA reporter George Stephanopoulos broached the subject that Swift remains mum on everywhere but in her songs – her love life. When asked about her current relationship status, Swift replied “I don’t really talk about my love life. I kind of sing about it a lot—because I really think that it sounds more, more poetic and romantic with music behind it.”

Directing all questions about her love life to her songs, Swift continued “My fans know that I’m gonna give them the real version of what happened to me in my music, And they know what they read on gossip sites may or may not be true. And they can kind of tell if it’s true or not because they know me.”

Unlike many pop stars who shrug off their role model status, Swift takes her position seriously, saying that she feels “sort of a pressure not to make a mistake…And I’m at an age where you’re supposed to be, like, learning lessons and all that and making mistakes and it’s OK. But it’s…I really have to minimize the mistakes that I make because it’s important that I…I have these people that count on me.”

In the final lightning round portion of her GMA interview, Swift revealed that her favourite shows include Law and Order and Grey’s Anatomy and her favourite guilty pleasure food includes Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Pop Tarts. Why are we not besties yet?
