The Country Music Awards came and went, but not before awarding Taylor Swift with a repeat win of her 2009 honour for Entertainer of the Year. And the heart-warming acceptance speech? “One of my favorite things this year is the camaraderie of these artists” clearly hinting at the fact she’s performed with a bunch of different country acts over the last year, including Ronnie Dunn, Kenny Chesney, and Tim McGraw.
The other big winner of the evening was Lady Antebellum. They won their third straight victory in the Best Vocals category. And even better news? Lead singers (and also husband and wife) Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert won Best Male and Best Female Vocals for the second straight year in a row.
The event was hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood in Nashville. Here were some of the major honours:
Entertainer of the Year: Taylor Swift
Single: “If I Die Young,” The Band Perry
Album: “My Kinda Party,” Jason Aldean
Song: “If I Die Young,” Kimberly Perry
Female Vocalist: Miranda Lambert
Male Vocalist: Blake Shelton
Vocal Group: Lady Antebellum
Vocal Duo: Sugarland
Musical Event: “Don’t You Wanna Stay”, Jason Aldean with Kelly Clarkson
Musician: Mac McAnally
Music Video: “You and Tequila,” Kenny Chesney featuring Grace Potter directed by Shaun Silva
New Artist: The Band Perry
