The king of covers
December 17th, 2013
When it comes to album covers, we have to admit that we’ve definitely judged an album by its cover. Totally guilty. But, bad cover art is a thing and it has definitely deterred us from wanting to check out an album or two. This is why great album covers should be saluted, for their ability to represent the music of the artist as well as provide imagery that can become iconic symbols in the future.
Here are 10 of our favourite album covers this year.
Tegan and Sara — Heartthrob
Redefining our fangirl culture of adoring male heartthrobs, Tegan and Sara’s album cover makes us want to pin this pic up on our walls and treat these two women with as much adoration as we do with pop’s top male stars.
Disclosure — Settle
The illustration over the two boys’ faces have become Disclosure’s signature symbol and even though this is only their first album, if these boys continue to produce great music, this look could become their version of a Daft Punk helmet.
Tyler the Creator — Wolf
We don’t always agree with Tyler the Creator’s outrageous behaviour, but this is one funny album cover that we can stand behind.
Drake — Nothing Was the Same
Baby Drake is probably one of the best things to ever happen to the internet so it was pretty smart for the Toronto rapper to take that to the next level: his album cover.
Daft Punk — Random Access Memories
A$AP Rocky — Long Live A$AP
Haim — Days Are Gone
This is what cool looked like in 2013.
Lady Gaga — ARTPOP
This is literally a piece of art.
Janelle Monae — The Electric Lady
What’s better than one Janelle Monae? SIX Janelle Monaes!
Kanye West — Yeezus
We think it’s safe to say that this Yeezus cover is genius.
@Bobbiwhitaker Sorry to hear that!
