The 2011 MTV VMA Nominations are in with Katy Perry, Adele and Bruno Mars leading the pack

July 20th, 2011

The nominations for the 2011 MTV VMAs were announced tonight and leading the pack of superstars was none other than the woman slated to make the announcements, Ms. Katy Perry. Perry took a break from her California Dreams tour to make the announcements live on MTV.com. From her album Teenage Dream, Perry landed a whopping nine nominations including Best Pop Video, Best Female Video, Best Collaboration and Video of the Year.

Adele’s smash hit Rolling In The Deep, which made her album 21 one of the biggest of the decade, received seven nominations for its visually stunning video. Additionally, Bruno Mar’s Grenade also received three well-deserved nominations for Best Pop Video, Best Male Video and Video of the Year.

A surprise contender for Video of the Year was controversial rapper Tyler, The Creator with his R-rated video for Yonkers. Tyler is up against Katy Perry, Adele, Beastie Boys and Bruno Mars.
