Performing in Nashville’s famous Springwater Supper Club, The Black Keys give a gritty and sweaty performance for their latest single Little Black Submarine off the band’s 2011 album, El Camino. While the video concept for LBS appears raw and simple, guitarist Dan Auerbach told Rolling Stone Magazine that it didn’t start out that way, with the band and director Danny Clinch deciding to not use the original storyline and instead release only the performance footage.
After admitting only a small group of fans into the Nashville landmark bar to perform Little Black Submarine for the video, the band decided to put on a full show for the select few. Says Auerback, “We all just sort of kind of mutually agreed that it should probably just be the performance and not any of the other extra stuff. Luckily we had live footage so we turned it into a live video. We just sort of said ‘You know, it was fun kind of performing here at a small club with the fans. Why don’t we just have it be that?’”
Little Black Submarine is the third single off the band’s seventh studio album, El Camino.
