There are some moments in our lives that are earth shattering and shocking, life altering and historical. When you look back at these moments, you remember exactly where you were and what you were doing when it happened. Some of these snippets in time we all share, and some are exclusive to our own experiences. For instance, the first time I saw Britney Spears.

I was but a fresh 18-year old, chilling at my friend’s house with a handful of others. We had gathered for a specific occasion – to watch a strange acquaintance shave her head. I was avoiding my new boyfriend because I was still iffy about the whole thing. Thus, my best friend and I went into her living room to watch everyone’s favorite station, Muchmusic. And there upon the screen was a fresh-faced young lass named Britney Spears, shaking her breasteses. My friend proclaimed, “She’s trying to be Mariah.” You know, on account of the whole school scene from “Someday”.

A photograph immortalizes this historic moment. Ok, so the main part of the picture is a freshly shorn noggin, but there in the background stands my friend and I, gaping at the television. Little did we know of the juggernaut that Britney was to become. Beautiful, no? It brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it.
