The Flaming Lips ready box set for Record Store Day

February 8th, 2011

The Flaming Lips have always had a soft spot for Record Store Day. On April 16th, they’ll prove that once again with a box set spanning the first ten years of their partnership with label Warner Bros.

Titled Heady Nuggs: The First 5 Warner Bros. Records 1992 – 2002, the five disc set will include Hit To Death In The Future Head (1992), Transmissions From The Satellite Heart (1993), Clouds Taste Metallic (1995), The Soft Bulletin (1999) andYoshimi Battles The Pink Robots (2002). Of course, if we’re being technical here, the set is missing the 1997 quadruple sound experiment, Zaireeka, but that one really deserves it’s own box set down the road.

According to a press release, “there will be two different editions of this vinyl only Box Sets: The “Standard” Record Store Day Edition which features all 5 discs pressed on black 140gram vinyl as well as a “Special Limited Edition” featuring all 5 discs pressed on 5 different colors of colored vinyl available only through the LIPS official web store.”

It should also be noted that “both editions will be extremely limited and once they are gone, they are GONE, so don’t delay; these will sell out.”
