Lights, camera, action. Add tons of drama, cat fights and hair extensions and you’ve got MTV’s hit reality show, The Hills.
With the arrival of Miss Kristin Cavallari, The Hills has been shaken up a bit. But for the viewers, it hasn’t been a good turn out. Ratings for this season have dropped 30% since the departure of Lauren Conrad, and they’re strugging to bring the next season to television. And I’m here to get your opinion with my weekly recap of the show!
Tuesday night’s episode of The Hills started off with Kristin and Brody going to dinner and discussing Brody’s current romantic situation with his on-again off-again girlfriend, Playboy Playmate, Jayde Nicole. Brody jokingly told Kristin she was being pretty flirtatious, and continued to laugh it off. In my own personal opinion, that was Brody’s way of playing off the situation, when we all know that he wants to get with Kristin, he just doesn’t want to be too up front about it for fear of hurting his bad-boy image.
Shortly after the dinner, cameras switched locations to the Hollywood Hills to Heidi and Spencer’s house, where once again, Heidi was babysitting the nephew of their next door nieghbor’s, Enzo. Alongside Enzo were Heidi’s two puppies running around their front yard. Then along comes Spencer, ruining any fun they were having by once again reminding Heidi that kids of their own were not happening anytime soon.
Brody later takes Kristin to visit his mom, sparking a reminiscing session between the two women. His mom says they were “so cute together” and asks if there is anything going on between them now. They both deny the situation, although their minds were both thinking different things.
Elsewhere, Spencer decides that a vasectomy is the only way to ensure that Heidi doesn’t become pregnant. He tells his close friend Charlie that the puppies didn’t work and she wants a child more than ever. “I have no other choice,” he says. After discovering that the surgery was irreversible, Spencer gets up and moves faster than I have ever seen his move before. Seeing this in the third party position, Spencer just seems to be an extremely arrogant person who thinks of nothing but himself. He’s rude and doesn’t care about Heidi’s hopes and dreams of having 4 children of her own. Bad, bad Spencer.
That same night, Brody, Kristin and an entourage of their friends went out to L.A. hotspot, Playhouse to celebrate a night of single living. Little does Brody know, his current “off-again” girlfriend, Jayde was very nearby and ready to cause a scene. Which is exactly what she did. After only moments of seeing Brody and Kristin flirting and having drinks, Jayde and her possy head over to give Kristin a piece of their minds. Jayde, being the always classy lady she is, decides to start off the conversation with the ever-so-lovely sentence “what the f**k are you doing?” Very lady-like, don’t you think? Yeah, I thought so too.
In the midst of the argument, Brody told Jayde “This is about you being a psycho,” which is soon followed by, “That’s exactly why we broke up.” Harsh words, Mr. Jenner, harsh words.
The next morning they reflect on the argument. Kristin gives Jayde the title of a “freaking lunatic” but Brody wonders whether it is his own fault for being out with Kristin. “Why does it have to be so complicated”? he asks. “Nobody is even married!” Kristin again voices her concerns about getting hurt but Brody assures her that there is no chance of him and Jayde ever getting back together.
Soon after, a confession is made, which is brought on by little Enzo when he tells Heidi, “Spencer went to the doctor!” Upon questioning, Spencer begins to stammer and stumble on his words, knowing he did something wrong, but not admitting to any of his faults. In the end, he confesses to Heidi that he would have gotten the procedure done if it was reversible. But because it’s 100% permanent, he opted out of the surgery. Heidi, being completely disappointed and shocked, gets angry, but not as angry as most wives would have been if their husbands were about to cut their balls off.
Later that evening, Audrina meets the infamous Justin Bobby for dinner. She admits that she has so much to say but doesn’t even know where to start. She confesses that it would be great if they could work things out but that could take time. Justin seems unconvinced and remains quiet. Audrina questions why he didn’t go to Heidi’s birthday and he says it was as simple as this: he wanted to avoid conflict. She also mentions that Kristin is now supposedly with Brody and that they attended the party together, prompting Justin to become standoffish.
With Justin’s amazing, charming love skills, he goes on to tell Audrina, “By you pushing me away, you pushed me to someone else and it got to the point where there are feelings there,” he explains. “Kristin did something different to me than you and me had done.” “It’s somewhere that I haven’t really gone with somebody and I didn’t want to think about the consequences… It was the first time I didn’t have to worry about what Audrina was thinking,” he adds, causing a visibly upset Audrina to leave the restaurant.
