After months of speculation and multiple names being thrown around, it looks like Lionsgate has cast their Finnick Odair for Catching Fire and Mockingjay. Zap2It is reporting that Lionsgate has offered 26 year-old British actor Sam Claflin the role of the beautiful and troubled tribute Finnick Odair.
Claflin is best known for his roles in Snow White and The Huntsman and in Pirates of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Reports of Claflin’s possible involvement in The Hunger Games franchise comes on the heels of news that Philip Seymour Hoffman and Jenna Malone will be playing Plutarch Heavensbee and Johanna Mason in the upcoming films.
Rumours are also swirling that Melissa Leo, who won an Oscar for her role in The Fighter, may play Finnick’s mentor Mags, with Monk’s Tony Shalhoub as Betee and Pulp Fiction’s Amanda Plummer as Wiress.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is set to hit theatres on November 22, 2013.
