Fans of The Hunger Games film have been waiting in suspense ever since word got out that Gary Ross, director of the first instalment of The Hunger Games, would not be directing the sequel to the beloved franchise, Catching Fire, because of scheduling conflicts. It was announced today that Francis Lawrence will be stepping in as the director of the sequel due out sometime next fall. Lawrence (who sadly is no relation to leading lady Jennifer Lawrence) has directed films such as I Am Legend and more recently Water For Elephants. He has even directed videos for Green Day, JLO and Britney Spears.
We can also take a sigh of relief since Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth will all be returning as Katniss Everdeen, Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne.
The Hunger Games film has been killing the competition (no pun intended) remaining number one at the box office for almost five weeks in a row since its release March 23rd.
