The Mars Volta Will Blow Your Mind

Short blog today. Just enough to say that The NewMusic is interviewing The Mars Volta tomorrow and I think it will be great. Still have fond memories of the interview we did with the guys back in ’05 when Frances The Mute came out.

They’re a lot funnier and down to earth than what people might expect. What I admire about them is that they sound unlike anyone else out there, and really stretch your ears as a listener…the music which isn’t in the obvious 4/4 time, the jazz riffs, the experimentation, the lyrics, Cedric’s voice, the surreal aspects of it all. Hopefully people are done talking about Cedric and Omar’s hair!

Their latest album has a great title, The Bedlam in Goliath, and you should go to their website to check out the story behind it (let’s just say it involves a ouija board, and a lot of spooky aftermaths). Also, check out their site where you can link up to play their interactive game “Goliath the Soothsayer.” Very cool.
