So I was just listening to some online radio, as I usually do between the hours of 11am-2pm - specifically I listen to Steve Lamacq’s show on BBC 6 every afternoon. I heard this AMAZING song - it was dark, brooding and very emotional. It was one of those moments where Steve didn’t announce the song, or name it after it played. I immediately started googling lyrics because I had to know who could put together such an incredible song.
Wow. Just, wow.
It is in fact Keane! The song is called “Atlantic” and it’s been released as a web-only single from their upcoming album “Under The Iron Sea”, with a matching video directed by Scottish author Irvine Welsh!. The band’s official site seems to be down right now, but you absolutely must see this video, somehow!
I’ve always had a bit of a love affair with Keane but this just solidifies my admiration. Such a great song. I have read reviews that the new album is a lot darker and loaded than “Hopes & Fears”, which was pretty bare bones - I can’t wait to pick up the album when it comes out on June 20.
UPDATE!: Keane’s website is back up and running. Go watch the video for Atlantic there - now!
