You’ve gotta love any job where you get to travel for work purposes. And when you’re travelling to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, well, you really can’t complain. And what a world Walt Disney World is.
First rule of Disney Club - everyone and everything is happy. Always.
Second rule of Disney Club - everyone that works there is a cast member. Whether you’re dressed up as Mickey Mouse or cleaning the toilet, you’re still a cast member.
Third rule of Disney Club - any section of the parks that’s behind the scenes is called “backstage.” And the things we saw and heard “backstage” are to be kept secret. So while I’d like to tell you that we saw Herbie the car hanging out in the parking lot… well, I can’t. He was backstage.
With those rules in mind, our VJ Leah and I explored just about everything at Walt Disney World. And joining us for the fun were Ciara, Ryan Cabrera and Yellowcard. All of these artists were there performing for Grad Night at the park, which is a huge deal with a whole bunch of high school students hanging out and going on the rides.
Ryan Cabrera was a lot of fun to hang out with. And before you start wondering: yes, his hair really is that big. It has a permanent “scared” look to it. Maybe it has something to do with the fact he went on a bunch of rides with Leah. I think her vice grip on his arm is probably settling into some nice bruises right about now. Just between you and me, where exactly do you think Leah’s hand is? And is that a look of shock or joy on Ryan’s face?
But Ryan was a trooper and a really great guy. Because, seriously, it’s gotta suck when you break up with your girlfriend, otherwise known as ASHLEE SIMPSON, and then you still have to work with your manager who also happens to be ASHLEE’S DAD!
Yellowcard were some wacky guys. It might have something to do with the fact their violinist was celebrating his birthday and they’d already been “celebrating” for a couple of hours before the interview. Luckily we took them on a pretty tame ride, although, having Yellowcard puke would have made some fantastic television.
Ciara is one of the friendliest artists I’ve ever had a chance to meet. Sure, we were kept waiting for about 2 hours while she got her hair and make up done, but when she arrived at 2am for her interview, she was an absolute doll. It was one of those situations where I actually like her more after getting a chance to meet her. We also got Leah and Ciara to ride on the Teacups and the Dumbo ride. Coolest coincidence of the evening? While riding on Dumbo, a DJ somewhere in the park starting blasting Missy Elliott’s brand new track which features Ciara rapping. I’d like to think that perhaps Mickey Mouse had slipped someone $5 to make this happen, but I think I’ll just let it go with the fact that we were in the most magical place on earth.

The best Full House espisodes were when they went to Disney World.
Did Ciara take so long to get ready so she could hide her rumored masculine features?
