Kicking off the performances for the 2012 Polaris Music Prize was non other than 2009 Polaris winners Fucked Up. Rounding out a banner year that included front man Damian Abraham mugging for the cover of Spin Magazine and appearing on the festival circuit alongside Metallica and Arctic Monkeys, Fucked Up hit the stage to perform Queen Of Hearts and The Other Shoe from their 2011 album David Comes To Life.
London based singer-songwriter Cold Specks performed stirring renditions of her songs Hector and Holland from her 2012 disc I Predict a Graceful Expulsion, proving why she deserves a place on this year’s Polaris short
Second-time short list nominee Cadence Weapon brought his unique old meets new school of hip hop to the Polaris stage, leaving the crowd feeling certain that the Canadian urban music is alive and better than ever. The Edmonton native performed three tracks, including Cheval, Conditioning and Hope In A Dirty City.
