Hitting the Polaris stage for the second time was short-list nominee Kathleen Edwards, whose heart-wrenching rendition of A Soft Place to Land left the rowdy crowd in a silent awe. Kathleen finished her performance by speaking with host Grant Lawrence about the importance of the Polaris Music Prize, thanking the organization for giving Canadian artists a place to shine.

Genre-bending musician Grimes got some help for her stage act from a scantily clad male dancer, who made use of a metal pole set up to the left of Grimes and her keyboard. The Montreal singer put the Polaris audience in a trance with her whimsical performance of Be A Body and Genesis.

Grimes was in good company with fellow Montrealers Yamantaka//Sonic Titan. The rock band performed two songs off their Polaris nominated album YT/ST, including Hoshi Neko and Reverse Crystal/Murder of a Spider.
