While in search of new music to listen to, I happened to stumble across The Rosebuds. This duo is from North Carolina and consists of Ivan Howard and Kelly Crisp. The two formed The Rosebuds back in 2001 and were discovered two years later by Merge Records. They released their first album The Rosebuds Make Out in 2003 and since then have released three more albums. Life Like being the latest album which was released last month and has been on a constant repeat for the last few days on my iPhone.

The Rosebuds can draw similarities to The Ting Tings due to their look and sound. Although their sound is a similarity it is also the major difference between the two. How is that possible you ask, well The Ting Tings have a dancy/pop sound to the majority of their songs whereas The Rosebuds have a different sound on every other song on their latest album. There are some that are classic ballads like Nice Fox and Black Hole. Then there are some like Cape Fear and Bow To The Middle where the comparison is drawn from to The Ting Tings.

About a month ago The Rosebuds’ single Life Like was mashed up with T-Pain’s Can’t Believe It and the mashup actually sounds good! Check it out and let me know what you think.

After listening to their album and MySpace non-stop a few songs have really stood out for me. They include Boxcar, Get Up Get Out, Nice Fox and Life Like. Luckily for you they are all featured on their MySpace so check them out and let me know what you think of them.
