The Sea & Cake – “Harps” (stream)

Chicagoan indie-outfit The Sea & Cake have returned with their jazzy, dreamy, synth-pop for a record called Runner. The record drops in September and the band will be playing Lee’s Palace in October. These gentlemen have been around for a while, and they’ve picked up a trick or two along the way. “Harps” is a pleasant mix of pop songwriting sensibilities and convincing soundscape textures. While they lament that “the sky was never blue,” the record certainly doesn’t sound cloudy.
