Albert Hammond Jr. of The Strokes says that they decided to produce the new album themselves after scraping early recordings with producer Joe Chiccarelli.
Rolling Stone is reporting that the first session started in February at Avatar Studios in New York. The upcoming album, out next year, was produced by the band themselves with engineer Gus Osberg.
Hammond Jr. says the album, their first since 2006, will feature 10 songs. “We’re all really excited to be stepping into the next chapter,” he said. “We spent the last six months recording in my studio upstate [New York] and we are beyond thrilled…”
