The Strokes name album and first single

January 19th, 2011

For years now, we’ve been updating whatever news has been trickling out of The Strokes’ camp and now we finally have something to say about the new album.

Out March 22nd, the fourth Strokes album will be called Angles and according to a recent Rolling Stone interview with guitarist Albert Hammond Jr., “It’s what the record sounds like. It comes from five different people.”

For the first time in their history, all five members of the band have written for the album, a job that was previously reserved for singer/songwriter Julian Casablancas.

“The vision was everyone’s — we all contributed ideas — but the genesis of the songs was his,” added guitarist Nick Valensi. “This is the first one where we are truly working democratically. It’s taken a long time because this is a new model for us.”

Some of the song titles from the album include “Taken for a Fool,” “Life Is Simple,” “Machu Picchu,” “Radio Minor Madness,” and what is being said to be the first single, “Undercover of Darkness.”
