Damon Albarn is currently in the Democratic Republic of Congo to record a new album (no, not Blur or Gorillaz). He’s said to be working with Actress, Dan the Automator and Richard Russell, boss of XL Recordings, as well as others including local musicians. The goal is to hopefully finish the album in seven days. Warp Records will release the untitled LP, with proceeds from the sales going to Oxfam, which Albarn is working with on the project. Welsh indie wonders Los Campesinos! have announced they’ll release a new album in November. In a blog posted to the band’s website, frontman Gareth has given explicit details as to where they are in the process (shortcut: they’ve finished mixing, and are about to start mastering). In the fall, they plan to start playing gigs to support the new, untitled album. (Via One Thirty BPM)
LSD enthusiasts and all around psychotic noisemakers the Buttlehole Surfers will embark on a North American tour. The line-up will consist of Gibby Haynes, Paul Leary, Jeff Pinkus and King Coffey, but not drummer Teresa Taylor, to which Coffey addressed, “Yeah, it’ll be just the dudes on this mini tour: Fort, Gibby, Pinkus and myself.” The lone Canadian date will be on September 3rd at the Rickshaw Theatre in Vancouver.
