The Wedge A.M. News Round Up: Death In Vegas return after 7 years

July 20th, 2011

The longtime dormant doom-y electronic duo Death In Vegas have announced they’ll release their first album in seven years on September 12th. Trans Love Energies marks the first new album by Richard Fearless and Tim Holmes since 2004′s Satan’s Circus. The album will feature vocals by Fearless as well as a guest turn by Austra singer Katie Stelmanis, who will sing on “Your Loft My Acid” and “Witch Dance,” which have been described in a press release as “more of an ethereal, Cocteau Twins-y feel than the full-tilt operatic belting for which Stelmanis is becoming renowned.” (Via Wears The Trousers)

Just last month Kate Bush gave us Director’s Cut, reworkings of some older songs, and now, she’s on track to give us a brand new album later this year. EMI executive Mark Poston revealed that the label has been prepared for a November release. Other albums he said are in the pipeline for 2011 include a Goldfrapp ‘greatest hits’ and a solo album from Luke Steele (Empire of the Sun, The Sleepy Jackson). (Via Star Observer)

Neon Indian will return with a new album on September 13th titled Era Extraña, and to coincide with that, they’ve also announced a fall tour featuring openers Com Truise and Purity Ring. The tour will stop off in Canada for three dates: Vancouver’s Venue on October 4th, Toronto’s Lee’s Palace on October 18th, and Montreal’s La Sala Rossa on October 19th. (Via Consequence of Sound)

Finally, The Strokes have chosen to avoid playing shows in Canada by holing themselves up in the studio to record songs for their next album. Bassist Nikolai Fraiture says, “I don’t think it’s ‘urgent’ in the way that we feel pushed. It’s ‘urgent’ in the way we want to work on music and keep the up momentum that we’ve managed to build up to now.” (Via NME)
