Longstanding post-punks The Fall will release their 29th studio album on November 14th via Cherry Red. Titled Ersatz G.B., the new album “retains many of their most distinctive elements whilst offering a fresh take on Mark E Smith’s familiar style and subject matter,” according to a press release. Most importantly, the album features the same line-up behind last year’s excellent Your Future Our Clutter and 2008′s Imperial Wax Solvent. So, for the most part, one of the more stable line-ups in The Fall’s notorious revolving door-happy history. (Via Slicing Up Eyeballs)
New Jersey jangle guitar noodlers Real Estate have announced a North American tour to coincide with their second album. Following the release of Days on October 18th, the band will return from Europe to kick off the tour on Halloween with a gig in Chicago. For this leg, there is unfortunately only one Canadian date: Vancouver’s Biltmore on November 8th with fellow jangle pop enthusiasts Big Troubles. (Via One Thirty BPM)
Swedish sister duo First Aid Kit have set the date of January 24th for the release of their second album. Released by Wichita Recordings, The Lion’s Roar was produced by Mike Mogis and features guest appearances by Conor Oberst and The Felice Brothers. And while it is still a ways off, the Söderberg sisters have offered up a trailer for the LP. (Via Under the Radar)
And out next Tuesday is the loooooooooooong-awaited DVD release of the seminal ’90s tour doc 1991: The Year Punk Broke. Finally we have a trailer for the film, which documents Sonic Youth’s legendary 1991 European tour, which also included Ramones, Babes in Toyland, Dinosaur Jr and of course, Nirvana. (Via YouTube)
