The Wedge A.M. News Round Up: The Strokes Members Not Contributing To Music

The Strokes bassist, Nikolai Fraiture says that recording their fifth studio album felt like marriage therapy. Despite the band being in a “good place”, Fraiture tells the daily star that some members aren’t exactly pulling their weight saying, “some people are bringing in stuff, some are not. There aren’t so many finished songs but we have many parts. We try putting them together like puzzles and making them stick.” Read more at NME.

Jon Stewart is set to host a Nirvana ‘Nevermind’ reunion. During the two hour special on September 24th, Stewart will discuss the album with the album’s producer Butch Vig and former Nirvana members Krist Novoselic and David Grohl. Read more at Paste.

Legendary Californian label Stones Throw just announced the release details of the debut album from Jonti, ‘Twirligig’, due for release October 18th. Jonti has worked with artists like Santigold, Sean Lennon, John Agnello and Albert Hammond Jnr, and super producer Mark Ronson. Quite the eclectic group of artists which is much like his sound which Music Feeds claims, “blends hip hop with classic songwriting styles, with his music heavily influenced at one end by The Beach Boys and Brian Wilson and at the other beat makers like Dilla and Flying Lotus.” Read more at Music Feed.
