The Wedge News Round Up: Smashing Pumpkins hit the road and former QOTSA bassit arrested

- The Smashing Pumpkins have announced a 12 City US tour starting October 5 in Los Angeles and wrapping up on October 22 in Philadelphia. The only original Pumpkin, Billy Corgan, has been working alongside new members Nicole Fiorentino, Mike Byrne and Jeff Schroeder on the band’s first album in five years, Oceania, due out in early 2012. - Former Queens of the Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri was charged with four felonies after he locked himself and his girlfriend in their apartment and struck her when she tried to leave with her belongings. When Oliveri surrendered to SWAT team members two hours after letting his girlfriend leave, police found a loaded, high-powered rifle, as well as cocaine and methamphetamine in his apartment. If convicted he could face up to 15 years in prison. (Via Pitchfork)

- Last week a video titled Inni from Sigur Ros appeared online and now we’re learning that the video is a film about the band by director Vincent Morisset. Morisset posted on his website that the film will premiere at the Venice Film Festival. No stranger to rock movies, Morisset has received many accolades for his film Miroir Noir on Arcade Fire. - Wavves have announced a new EP titled Life Sux, which will feature collaborations with Best Coast and F**ked Up. The EP will be available digitally as well as on CD and vinyl on September 20. The track list of the EP includes the songs Bug, I Wanna Be Dave Grohl, Nodding Off [ft. Best Coast], Poor Lenore, Destroh [ft. Fucked Up] and In the Sand [Live]. (Via Pitchfork)
