The Wedge P.M. News Round Up: Get your name in a Flaming Lips song

If your lifelong dream has been getting your name mentioned in a Flaming Lips song, well, boy are you in for some good news. Wayne Coyne and the boys announced that their fans can play a role in their new six-hour-long track, “Found a Star on the Ground.” On a site dedicated to the project, the band are accepted $100 donations, all of which will go towards the OK Humane Society and ACM@UCO. Will Oldham has finished his latest Bonnie “Prince” Billy album. Wolfroy Goes to Town, as it’s called, will be released on October 4th, featuring Van Campbell, Ben Boye, Shahzad Ismaily, Danny Kiely, Angel Olsen, and Emmett Kelly, the same group of musicians he collaborated with on his last LP, 2010′s The Wonder Show of the World. Merge Records have added Brooklyn band Hospitality to their roster. A debut album is slated for an early 2012 release, but the label has premiered a song from that record called “Friend of Friends,” which is available to download. According to the press release, the album was recorded by Shane Stoneback (Fucked Up, Vampire Weekend) and will use both The Psychedelic Furs’ Talk Talk Talk and New York City as influences. The debut album by British/American ’90s revivalists Yuck is set to receive a deluxe reissue. Fat Possum will re-release their self-titled album on October 11th, complete with a bonus CD/LP of six B-sides, including recent single “Milkshake.” The band will be playing two Canadian shows this month: Montreal during Pop Montreal on September 24th, and Toronto’s Horseshoe Tavern on the 25th.
