In-stores have always been a great promotional tool for an artist to promote a new album. San Francisco duo Girls are taking the in-store to a whole new level this Friday. The band will be live webcasting their concert from Grimey’s in Nashville for what is being called the first ever nationwide in-store performance. The show begins at 6:00 PM EST and will be livecast on any of your favourite record store’s website, blog or Facebook page. On top of that, Girls will create a limited edition vinyl release exclusive to stores participating in this live streaming event, to be made available later this year. (Via Matador)
The other day we brought attention to a cryptic message on the Big Pink’s website. Now we have some news. The UK dream rock band will release a new album in January called Futureless, which has ten tracks. One of those tracks is new single “Stay Gold,” which they’ve released the video for. As the CMJ Music Marathon draws closer, the fest has added more artists to its already impressive line-up. Now playing the five-day conference are Gang Gang Dance, Zomby, J Mascis, Joker, Cloud Nothings, Casiokids, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Kendrick Lamar, Shonen Knife, and Free Energy. (Via CMJ)
Finally, Florence and the Machine have confirmed November 1st as the release date for their next album, which will be titled Ceremonials. The album will have 12 tracks, including a previously announced single, “What the Water Gave Me.” (Via Under the Radar)
