The Wedge P.M. News Round Up: Neutral Milk Hotel reveal box set

August 26th, 2011

Following a return to the live circuit by band leader Jeff Mangum, the next logical step in the resurrection of Neutral Milk Hotel is a massive reissue campaign. Mangum has announced a vault-clearing vinyl box set collecting all of the beloved ’90s indie band’s catalogue, including 15 unreleased tracks. Packaged in gatefold 12″ sleeves will be 1996′s On Avery Island and 1998′s In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, with 10″ copies of the Everything Is EP and new EP Ferris Wheel on Fire, both of which contains bonus tracks. As well there will be 7″s and two 24×24-inch posters. The box sets will be released on November 22nd, as will the unreleased tracks, which will be available to purchase through BandCamp. Fucked Up and Wavves have announced a joint tour (read into that what you may). The bands will play ten dates together throughout the U.S. in September and October, with the closest date to Canada being at Buffalo’s Town Ballroom on October 3rd. Check it out and you’ll be able to hear Damian and Jonah of Fucked Up team up with Wavves on their collaboration, “Destroy.” (Via Pitchfork)

Erykah Badu might not be your typical Wedge artist, but she will be soon. The R&B songstress has revealed that on top of working with Flying Lotus on a new album, she’s also collaborating with cartoon chart-toppers Gorillaz. “I’m making an album right now with a guy named Flying Lotus. I’m working on a project with The Gorillaz. I’m always doing something. It doesn’t always make headlines, but I’m always making art – always.” (Via Wall Street Journal)
