Sloan are celebrating their 20th or XXth anniversary this year. So far they’ve released a new album, The Double Cross, played some celebratory shows and had singer/bassist Chris Murphy guest host The Wedge. On top of that, the fab four have announced more tour dates (five of which are Canadian) and a free singles compilation. The band will stop off in Waterloo, Peterborough, St. Catharines, London and Moncton at the end of September, and are now giving away a complimentary collection of the best titled Select Singles: 1992-2011. A new crop of bands have been added to the rowdy Bruise Cruise, the indie rock floating music festival that sets sail from Miami to the Bahamas in February. Joining King Khan & The Shrines, The Soft Pack, Thee Oh Sees and The Dirtbombs are the Vivian Girls (as DJs), The Togas (feat. Ty Segall) and one of our favourite bands, Fucked Up. Tickets are now on sale. (Via Bruise Cruise Festival)
If you were digging the recent collabo between James Blake and Bon Iver, you’ll be happy to know that it will now see a proper release on a new EP by the former. Blake will include “Fall Creek Boys Choir” on Enough Thunder, along with a cover of Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You” and some new tunes. The EP will be out via Atlas on October 10th. After previously reissuing some out of print singles by seminal ’80s band The Wake, NYC-based indie label Captured Tracks are set to release their 1985 album, Here Comes Everybody. Like any good reissue, eight extras from non-LP singles will be included. The release is expected some time before Christmas. (Via Exclaim!)
