Rhino UK has put together a new box set from the seminal ’80s indie band The Smiths. Simply titled The Smiths — Complete, the “super deluxe collectors’ box set” is said to include everything the band has ever done. Overseen by guitarist Johnny Marr and remastered with engineer Frank Arkwright from “the original tape sources,” the box set includes the band’s eight albums on both CD and 180-gram audiophile vinyl, plus all 25 of the group’s singles on individual 7″s — as well as prints, posters and a DVD of music videos. Just as we’re getting excited about the deluxe edition reissue of Nirvana’s Nevermind, which now has a tracklist, Facebook has banned the album cover. Says the social networking site, “Facebook does not allow photos that attack an individual or group, or that contain nudity, drug use, violence or other violations of the Terms of Use.” The artwork was removed from the official Nirvana page, promoting the 20th anniversary. Zola Jesus has announced a fall tour to coincide with the release of her new album, Conatus. The \dates include three Canadian shows: Vancouver’s Biltmore Cabaret on October 7th, Toronto’s Mod Club on the 14th and Montreal’s il Motore on the 15th. (Via Brooklyn Vegan)
Toronto’s Bruce Peninsula have announced their second album, Open Flames, will be released on October 4th. Now that frontman Neil Haverty’s cancer is in remission, the band have also unveiled a number of tour dates across Canada beginning in Sarnia on September 9th. (Via AUX)
