The Wedge P.M. News Round Up: St. Vincent’s Annie Clark To Appear In Portlandia

September 22nd, 2011

Annie Clark, aka St. Vincent, will be appearing in Fred Armison and Carrie Brownstein’s cult comedy, Portlandia. If you recall, Clark has already worked with Armison and Brownstein on her music video for “Laughing With A Mouth of Blood,” a highlight from her 2009 album, Actor. She told Exclaim that the comedy duo asked her to be on show and that she plays a waitress and a model in a cop-uniform. She further explained that, “I got to be in a scene with Kyle MacLachlan… It was so cool, and he was such a gentleman.” The second season of Portlandia begins in early 2012. St. Vincent also just released her incredible third album, Strange Mercy. (Via Exclaim)

Out Of Love is the new album by rock supergroup Mister Heavenly, which is made up of Nick Thorburn (Islands/The Unicorns), Ryan Kattner (Man Man), and Joe Plummer (Modest Mouse). The band is going on a short tour and will visit Toronto on November 16 at the Great Hall and Montreal on November 17 at Il Motore. (Via Consequence of Sound)

A few days ago, 4AD released a compilation entitled, 4AD Sessions: 2008-2011, which features the live 4AD session series. There were only 1000 of them made but today it was revealed that you can download the compilation for free in exchange for your e-mail. Those who do so will also be automatically entered in a contest to win a physical copy in vinyl. Some of the artists featured on the album include Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Deerhunter, Twin Shadow, and tUnE-yArDs. (Via Pitchfork)
