Them Duck Boys...

Hey, hi -

My name is Jose Avelino Gilles Corbett Lourenco. I sit across from Manny and envy his sneakers. I sit kitty to Robert and admire his Spanish. I sit about 3 metres from Hannah and Kristine and wish I was in Japan last week, too. I sit on the opposite side of the room from April, and it's so weird she's talking up her old-school Star Wars sheets (see post below), because I was just reminiscing/arguing with my brother, James, over the pop culture bed sheets we had when we were younger. Mine were Dukes of Hazzard, and James rocked the Ducktales.

While I concede the Ducktales set had more spirit and featured a greater palette of vivid colours than the Hazzard set, the Dukes pillowcase alone – sporting Luke and Bo "Jonathon Kent from Smallville" Duke on one side, Daisy on the other – surely merits a check in the "win" column.

But then I started thinking about the respective programs' theme songs, and how they play into the sheet set debate.

The Dukes tune is a classic, and it’s getting a fine new rehash in Willie Nelson’s pipes for this summer’s Sean William Scott,/Johnny Knoxville/Jessica Simpson remake. Point: Hazzard sheets. But the Ducktales theme, with its anonymous 80s vocal and Desman-cheesy synths, is fishhook-catchy/magical. I still know all the words.

"Life is like a hurricane, here in Duckberg. Racecars, lazers, aeroplanes – it's a duck-blur."

And c'mon - racecars? Lazers? Aeroplanes? Forget Dukes of Hazzard, a feature-length live-action Ducktales is the blockbuster I want to see this summer. Disney, make a call to Bruckheimer and let's get this thing going for 2006. Think about the merchandising! McDonald's will get on board for the Happy Meals, EA can hack together at least one videogame, Joss Whedon can write the comic, the animated series could make a comeback with Mike Myers signing on to voice Scrooge McDuck…

Point: Ducktales. Shoot - game, set, match: Ducktales.

So I guess my old bed sheets lose. Whatevs. I’m going to be too busy trying to get tickets for the Ducktales movie to worry about that. In fact, I'm going to start lining up now, right next to the cadre of Padawan learners down by the Paramount.

And - I'm not sure about this because I'm looking at a distance – I think one of those Jedi used to teach me math. Another strange coincidence! Even stranger: Amidst the folds of his homemade Jedi cloak I can almost make out the tufts of feather and primary coloured-caps of Huey, Dewey and Louie.

Countdown to Star Wars...

Hey peeps! My name is April Day and I'm what you might call the producer's bitch. Unpleasant but true.

My entry is going to short because my head is fuzzy from a hangover that I'm nursing today. Ouch. But in my current state, which is just wanting to go home for some zzzz's, there are a few things on my mind:

Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. I have to admit that I havent' found the patience to sit through Phantom Menace or Clone Wars but Revenge... now that looks sweet. I've never been able to let go of my Star Wars sheets featuring none other than Mr Han Solo, the coolest man to hit the screen.

Rilo Kiley - loving them but sadly report that I'm going to miss their Toronto show tomorrow night due to my nephew's confirmation. At least I can spin the cd on way out of town, on my lame cd player. I'm so dated. But seriously, Rilo Kiley, check it.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou - I just can't get enough of this movie or the soundtrack. Trust me, you'll love the tune on the movie's main page. So good.

I gotta run. I also work on MuchNews and we have a news hit in a bit which I've got to prep. By the way, Brit & K-Fed's stupid "reality" show debuts tonight. I'm going to watch. She's such a hick.

Later.

Finally!

Wow, we finally got a new website. Props to Team Digital and the Interactive dept. for getting this up.

Umm... now what? I guess maybe I'll let you guys in on who will be actually blogging on this page. First off would be Hannah Sung of course, (I like to call her Sungy Balboa or Hanimal) she’ll be doing lots o blogging. I'm pretty sure The Hanimal got some good stories and pics from her recent trip to Japan. Next you got April, she's the production assistant for the NM crew, and Jose holds down all the researching. Robert is a producer on the show, my name is Manny and I'm also one of the producers. And last but not least is Kristine, she's the little-big boss lady around here. Here is a recent pic of Kristine and I celebrating my 25th birthday with a big basket of fruit. Some people blush when they’re embarrassed, I sweat! Anyways, there you have it The NewMusic Crew!

Quick someone say something before Sophia takes down our site!
