The whole world is still talking about Miley Cyrus’s twerk-filled performance from Sunday night’s MTV VMAs. From what she was or more appropriately, wasn’t wearing, to her tongue waging and suggestive dancing with Robin Thicke, the only thing that hasn’t really been discussed yet is the actual musical performance of We Can’t Stop.
Seemingly more interested with shocking viewers than giving a great performance, what really disappoints me about Sunday’s night’s showing from the former Hannah Montana star is that Cyrus has one of the biggest songs in North America right now and did little in the performance department to showcase that.
It’s too late for us to go back in time and have a different performance from Cyrus at this year’s MTV VMAs, but what I think would have shocked viewers even more than the motorboating and latex would have been if Cyrus performed her new single, Wrecking Ball, and showed that she’s the musical prodigy she claims to be. It’s. So. Freaking. Good.
Unfortunately, we’ll probably just continue looking at gifs of Miley twerking on famous pieces of art instead of focusing on how great her new tracks are and frankly, Miley has no one to blame but herself for that.Tweet
