This week RapCity & The Wedge pay tribute to MCA & Beastie Boys
May 11th, 2012
On May 4th, Adam “MCA” Yauch of the Beastie Boys sadly passed away after battling cancer for nearly three years. MuchMusic put together a one-hour special titled RIP MCA: A Beastie Boy Remembered celebrating MCA’s life and legacy, using 25 years worth of footage deep within our vault, as well as speaking to a range of VJs over the years who had the pleasure of meeting him.
Seeing as they broke the boundaries between hip-hop and alternative music, on this week’s episodes of both RapCity and The Wedge, we will re-air the special, followed by a video flow of the best the Beasties had to offer. Expect different videos on each show: RapCity will take more of a hip-hop route, while The Wedge will dig deep into their discography and revisit their punk roots complete with commentary by host Damian Abraham.
