Tokio Hotel mayhem in Toronto officially kicked off last night! The boys arrived in Toronto after their sizzling North American debut in Montreal (they appeared on Musique Plus’ Plus Sur Command, which is the French equivalent of MuchOnDemand, on February 8, and then moved on to perform their first of five sold out shows at Le National. Check out some YouTube clips - they literally went up hours after the show.

So back to last night.

Had it not been -30C with the windchill, I’m positive that fans would have already been lining up when I drove past the Mod Club at around 3pm. No matter - when I got back to the venue at 6 there was already a line even though doors didn’t open till 8. It was interesting to see how the night unravelled - the only other time I’ve seen people packed so tightly towards the front of the stage was for Hot Chip in 2006. The guys at the merch table got absolutely no rest all night, they were so busy selling t-shirts and other stuff.

After what seemed like hours (oh wait, it WAS about two hours since I had arrived), Tokio Hotel took the stage…one by one…starting with Gustav and his drum bit…then Georg added the bass…then Tom on guitar, and finally Bill stormed out just in time to kick off the vocals on Ready, Set, Go!. From the moment the vocals started, everyone was taking photos and going berserk. It was super energetic. They played ten songs before coming back for a two song encore that ended with Bill saying, “We want to see how your German is!” and urged fans to sing along to Durch Den Monsun, the original German version of Through The Monsoon. Here’s a video of the entire encore - you can hear just how crazy it was; everyone was singing along! After the show ended and the band did their bows, no one was BUDGING in the hopes that they’d come back out. I swear it was like 20 or 30 minutes before people finally filed out!

Can’t wait to interview the guys in about an hour and then watch them soundcheck and perform on MuchOnDemand! Should be a total shitfest! If only it wasn’t so cold outside…

  17. OMG i was there it was freakin cold standing outside for like 2 hours NEVER AGAIn but it was compleatly worth it haha and the concert was awesome bill looked at me about idk 4 timez haha sooo sexy i do it again anytime but then id bring a scarf and mittens dang it was cold
