Toronto got a healthy dose of holiday cheer last week with three fun-filled, festive nights of indie-rock from a trio of Canada’s hottest young acts. On a Phoenix Theatre stage adorned by trees and gift-wrapped amps, Ontario’s Tokyo Police Club and Born Ruffians proved that it is possible to rock out in Christmas sweaters, if only for a few songs, shaking them off under the bright lights, while Said the Whale charmed the all-ages crowd, solidifying their status at the top of Santa’s “nice” list.
